A Harmony of Glacial Architecture and Alpine Culture
Set deep inside the Kamnik-Savinja Alps in northern Slovenia, the Logar Valley (Logarska dolina) is among Europe's most perfectly preserved U-shaped glacial valleys. Declared a protected Landscape Park in 1987, it strikes a sublime balance between untouched nature and historic timber homesteads.
The valley floor is divided into three distinct zones: Log (the lower meadow section), Plest (the forested central section), and Kot (the upper cirque beneath amphitheater mountain walls).
Rinka Waterfall Cirque
Slovenia's second highest fall dropping 90m in free-fall against the limestone amphitheater of Mt. Okrešelj.
Solčava High Road
Scenic route passing ancient high-altitude farms with breathtaking views of the Kamnik-Savinja crests.
Rinka Waterfall & The Eagle's Nest
At the head of the valley, the Savinja River plunges 90 meters over an amphitheater limestone precipice to form Slap Rinka, Slovenia's second highest waterfall. Perched directly opposite the waterfall is the "Eagle's Nest" (Orlovo gnezdo), a rustic wooden hut clinging to the cliff.
The Solčava Panoramic Road
Winding high above the Logar Valley, the Solčava Panoramic Road connects remote high-altitude farms that have maintained sheep farming, wool processing, and traditional alpine dairy traditions for centuries. The road offers unforgettable vistas of the jagged limestone crests of Ojstrica and Planjava.
